Iwai to Return to Mayakoba

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, April 26, 2026.— Chisato Iwai returns to the place where she lifted her first LPGA Tour trophy. The Japanese player will compete in the second edition of the Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba.

Iwai arrived last year as one of the 25 rookies participating in the tournament held at El Camaleón Golf Course, and this time she will face tough competition, with names such as Nelly Korda in the field. As in the previous year, Chisato will be accompanied by her sister Akie, who, like “Chizzi,” also won her first Tour title in 2025 at The Standard Portland Classic (August).

The full player list also includes Switzerland’s Albane Valenzuela, who competed in Mayakoba last year; Brianna Do, who in 2025 recorded the first top-10 finish of her career (T9) at the Riviera Maya Open; and Spain’s Carlota Ciganda, who also finished inside the top 10 at the Mexican event.

Thailand’s Pajaree Anannarukarn, a two-time winner, will also be in the field, with titles at the Bank of Hope LPGA Match-Play presented by MGM Rewards (2023) and the ISPS Handa World Invitational presented by Modest! Golf Management.

The Mexican contingent is made up of María Fassi, Isabella Fierro, Gaby López, Clarisa Temelo, Ana Jiménez, Alejandra Llaneza, and Andrea Ostos.

In addition to the Mexican players, other confirmed Latin American participants include Ecuador’s Daniela Darquea, Paraguay’s Sofía García, and Colombia’s María José Marín.

Everything is set for a new edition of the Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba, which features a prize purse of $2.5 million.
