Lauren Olivares to Compete at Mayakoba

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, April 26, 2026.— Lauren Olivares will be another Mexican player competing in the MÉXICO Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba.

The Guanajuato native has played in three EPSON Tour events so far this season, making the cut in all of them. Her best performance came at the IOA Golf Classic, where she finished tied for fifth to earn her first top-10 result. She also competed in the Orlando Health Championship (T15) and the Atlantic Beach Classic presented by Access Golf (T57).

In April of last year, she played in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, becoming the third Mexican to compete in the event, following María Fassi (2019) and Isabella Fierro.

Olivares competed at the collegiate level at North Carolina State University. She won the Briar’s Creek Invitational in both 2023 and 2024, becoming one of only two representatives from her university to win multiple golf titles. She holds the NCAA record for the lowest single round (60, -11), achieved at the Cougar Classic (2023), and became the first woman in collegiate golf to shoot a 60 in a round. She also set the program’s season stroke average record (72.18 in 2023–24) and, in 2024, was named to the All-ACC Women’s Golf Team, becoming the first representative from her university to earn that distinction.

At 22 years old, Lauren began playing golf at a very young age and has an extensive background in team competitions. In 2019, she contributed to winning the Mexico Golf Cup; that same year, she was selected to represent the country at the Toyota Junior Golf World Cup in Japan, where the team finished second. She also helped the Mexican team reach the podium at the 2019 Girls Junior Americas Cup (third place), held in California, where she placed fourth individually.

Olivares joins Gabriela López, María Fassi, Isabella Fierro, Clarisa Temelo, and Andrea Ostos among the Mexican players in a field headlined by American Nelly Korda.

The Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba will take place from April 30 to May 3 at the iconic El Camaleón Golf Course, with a prize purse of $2.5 million.
