Andrea Ostos returns to the MÉXICO Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba as a sponsor invite
- The first player from Chihuahua on the LPGA Tour will compete in Mayakoba for the second time
- The Mexican golfer joins the field of the only LPGA tournament in Latin America, strengthening the national presence on a global stage
The MÉXICO Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba adds a new name to its list of contenders. Mexican golfer Andrea Ostos has been confirmed as a sponsor invite, joining a field that features some of the best players in the world in the only LPGA Tour event held in Latin America.
Her inclusion not only reinforces Mexico’s presence in the tournament, but also highlights the growth of a generation aiming to establish itself among the elite of international golf.
Andrea Ostos began playing golf at the age of 10 in her hometown of Chihuahua and built a solid career from her amateur years. She competed in four World Junior Championships, achieving her best result with an 18th-place finish at the U.S. Kids World Championship (15–18 age category).
Ostos attended high school at Tecnológico de Monterrey (Chihuahua Campus) and earned a scholarship to compete in collegiate golf in the United States. In 2018, she began her college career at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), joining the Miners women’s team (NCAA Division I), where she competed at the highest collegiate level for five years.
After completing her college career, Andrea turned professional. In April 2025, she played in three events on the Annika Women’s All Pro Tour (WAPT), a developmental circuit sanctioned by the LPGA, where she gained experience and competitive rhythm. That same year, she received a sponsor invitation to compete in the MÉXICO Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba 2025—an official LPGA Tour event—marking her debut at the highest level of women’s professional golf. Now, at 25 years old, she returns with greater maturity.
In her professional stage, she has found competitive rhythm on the Epson Tour, gaining valuable experience against international fields.
During 2026, Ostos has competed in several developmental tour events. At the Florida’s Natural Charity Classic, she delivered a consistent performance to finish inside the top 40, while at the IOA Golf Classic she made the cut and competed through the weekend. In one of her most recent appearances, the Atlantic Beach Classic, she finished inside the top 50, showing progress in her consistency.
These results reflect steady improvement in her game, particularly in areas such as driving accuracy and short-game management—key elements for competing at demanding venues like Mayakoba.
“I’ve worked hard on staying patient and trusting my process. I know my game is there; it’s just about letting it flow on the course,” the Mexican golfer recently said regarding her progress this season.
Along the same lines, Ostos highlighted the mental aspect as one of her biggest improvements: “I feel more comfortable competing now, better understanding tournament moments and making clearer decisions.”
With Ostos’ addition, the tournament continues to strengthen a field that already includes international stars such as Nelly Korda, Lydia Ko, Nataliya Guseva, and Mexican standout Gaby López, along with emerging names like Isabella Fierro, María Fassi, Clarisa Temelo, and Colombia’s María José Marín.
The combination of established talent and rising prospects points to a high-level competition at El Camaleón Golf Course, which this year celebrates two decades as a host of top-tier professional tournaments.
The MÉXICO Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba will take place from April 30 to May 3, featuring 144 players competing over 72 holes across four days for a $2.5 million purse.
