Nelly Korda arrived in Mayakoba as World No. 1 and the top favorite for the title
Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, April 27, 2026.– There was little time to celebrate. Just hours after winning the third Major Championship of her career in Houston—with a brief poolside celebration alongside her team and close circle—American golfer Nelly Korda boarded a flight to Mexico’s Riviera Maya. There, she will aim for her third title of the 2026 LPGA Tour season and was welcomed by GS Sports Management executives Gustavo Santoscoy García and Gustavo Santoscoy Arriaga.
Following her impressive victory at the Chevron Championship—where she won by five strokes, the largest margin in the tournament in 18 years—Korda reclaimed the No. 1 spot in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings. As of this Monday, she sits atop the rankings once again for the first time since last August, arriving at the Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba as the world’s top player and the leading favorite to claim the title in Quintana Roo.
Korda leads the rankings with an average of 11.65 points, ahead of Thailand’s Jeeno Thitikul, who sits in second place with 9.99. This marks her 109th week at No. 1 in the world.
Her career has been filled with remarkable achievements. In addition to her three Major titles (the 2021 Women’s PGA Championship and the Chevron Championship in 2024 and 2026), she has amassed 17 LPGA Tour victories and 21 worldwide wins. She is also an Olympic gold medalist from Tokyo 2021.
This start to the season has been one of the best in Korda’s career. In five tournaments played, the 27-year-old has claimed two victories (the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions in Orlando and the Chevron Championship in Houston) and finished runner-up in the other three events (the Fortinet Founders Cup in Menlo Park, the Ford Championship in Phoenix, and the Aramco Championship in Las Vegas).
