Balcázar and Rotzinger qualify for the Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba

  • Nine Mexican players will be in the tournament field

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, April 27, 2026.– Mexican golfers María Balcázar and Carolina Rotzinger have qualified for the Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba, bringing the total number of Mexican representatives to nine for the tournament, which tees off this Thursday at El Camaleón Golf Course.

Balcázar, a native of Chiapas, and Rotzinger, from Puebla, join Gaby López, Isabella Fierro, María Fassi, Clarisa Temelo, Andrea Ostos, Ana Jiménez, and Alejandra Llaneza, marking a historic participation of nine Mexican players in the LPGA Tour event.

During her senior season at the University of Florida (2019–2020), Rotzinger—who will be making her second appearance at the Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba—recorded a scoring average of 78.3 per round. Her best finish of the season was a tie for 53rd place at the Amelia Island Collegiate, where she also posted her best round of the season with a 72, and her best total score of 229.

For Balcázar, this will also be her second appearance at the Mayakoba event. Last year, she became the first player from Chiapas to compete in an LPGA event when she appeared in the field at the Riviera Maya Open. During her college career, she represented the University of Florida, where she recorded three top-10 finishes and a fourth-place result in the American Athletic Conference and at the Mason Rudolph Championship.

Mexico will once again have a strong presence in the tournament, with the added advantage of competing in front of a home crowd.
